GV II

Terraced houses. c.1845. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond,
stucco, roof obscured by parapet. Three storeys, two windows
each the two pairs divided by a shallow recessed vertical
panel, and the front stepped back one brick's depth between
nos 8 and 6 and nos 12 and 10. Entrance flanked by Doric
pilasters with plain entablature, dentil cornice and blocking
course; overlight, panelled doors of original design to nos 8,
10 and 12. All windows flat-arched with moulded stucco
architraves, that to ground floor having cornice on consoles,
those to first floor having cornices and windows guards; 6/6
sashes with margin lights throughout except to no 12 (second
floor); moulded stucco sill band to second floor; parapet now
with plain stucco band. Stacks to party walls. Railings to no
8 and 10 apparently replacements. Though different in detail,
these houses form a group with nos 14-24 St Paul's Road
(q.v.).
