Shop with accommodation over and house. Early C19, probably a
remodelling of an earlier core. Mass wall construction,
stuccoed and blocked out; asbestos slate roof, gabled at ends;
left end stack with rendered shaft with platband; cast-iron
gutters. Plan: double-depth plan, 2 rooms wide with, at the
left end, a probably later, stone rubble block with different
floor levels, lower roofline and rounded corner, reputed to
have been a blacksmith's shop. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys.
Asymmetrical 3-window front with regular fenestration.
Adjacent front doors to the left, both recessed and 6-panel,
the upper panels fielded, both with overlights. Door to No.2
(to right) has reeded doorcase with cornice. To left a late
C19 or early C20 shop front with plate glass shop windows
canted in to a glazed door with overlight. 2 first-floor
2-pane late C19 or C20 horned sashes in earlier embrasures,
first-floor window left an early C19 12-pane hornless sash.
Lower-roofed block has a doorway with timber lintel and
3-light C20 plate-glass shop window. INTERIOR: internal
partitions altered for shop use. Dated C16 timber said to have
been found in No.2.
