NITON AND WHITWELL

1353-0/5/231 Gatepiers Formerly to Windcliffe

Gatepiers. c1840. Square Isle of Wight stone blocks about 8
feet high with 2 courses of rough stones acting as cornices.
The gatepiers were built before the house and it was
subsequently decided to build the house higher up the hill in
a less exposed situation.
