28/03/74 Main Entrance to Birkenhead Park

GV II

Drinking fountain in the form of an obelisk. Dated 1860.
Polished granite. Obelisk raised up steps on a pedimented
plinth. Inscription on the plinth reads "Erected by public
subscription to the memory of the late John Somerville
Jackson, magistrate d. June 8 1860". Small projecting fountain
basins on two sides now mutilated.
