Gate piers and wall. Dated and inscribed 1839 and 1846 H.H. (Henry Howard),
probably by Anthony Salvin. Mixed sandstone rubble walls and ashlar piers.
Wall with moulded coping in U-plan, with central square gate piers under
supporters and coats-of-arms, the rear part of the shields dated and inscribed,
indicating the start and finishing dates of the first alterations to Greystoke
Castle by Salvin. The wooden gate has palings incorporating the Howard
coat-of-arms. Listed for group value with Greystoke Castle.
