Cowshed, now barn at SU 6033 7484. 1884, by Alfred Waterhouse. Timber framed
with internal brick nogging, brick plinth, and shaped and plain tile hanging.
Interlocking tile roof and 8 gables with 4-light casements. Octagonal plan
with ailes. 5 narrow windows on each face, except to south-west and south-east
which have large C20 corrugated iron double doors. Interior: complex
radiating timber and iron roof structure with central timber and iron
column. Narrow gauge railway line embedded in floor. Enamel plaques on walls
listing prizes won by cattle. This building is part of a model farm complex
once served by its own narrow gauge railway. B.O.E, Berkshire, p. 103.
