Description

ST ERVAN PENROSE
SW 87 SE
3/175 Spray Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Circa early to mid C19. Slate rubble with brick window arches. Asbestos
slate roof with gabled ends. Rebuilt brick stacks at gable ends.
Plan: Double depth plan. As the interior was not inspected the internal arrangement
is unclear.
There are 2 front rooms with a central entrance between. The left hand front room is
wider but has a small window and therefore it may be a service room. The back rooms
are probably also service rooms but the rear left hand room is now occupied by the
adjoining cottage to the left (Spray qv).
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front. C19 2-light casements with small
panes and slate sills, the ground floor left hand window is similar but of 2-lights;
the ground floor windows have flat brick arches. Doorway to right of centre with a
divided plank door and simple C20 wooden gabled porch.
The rear elevation has later C19 sashes to the right and C20 casement and porch to
the left.
Interior inaccessible at time of survey 1987.
