10 almshouses. 1862. Red brick, ashlar dressings, slate roofs.
5 red brick ridge stacks having tall octagonal paired funnels
with moulded tops. Single storey and attics, 19 bay symmetrical
front having plinth and 10 ledged planked doors arranged in
gabled pairs, the middle pair being advanced with moulded brick
Tudor arched surrounds. Windows are 2 light cast iron latticed
casements. All openings have cambered brick arches. In the roof
are 4 gabled dormers having 2 light casements and slate hung
cheeks. To either gable end are single canted oriels with
moulded ashlar tops and bases. In the front gables are blank
trilobes alternating with ashlar panels, inscribed with Banks
insignia and date 1862. Over the central pair a larger tablet
records the foundation of the original almshouses in 1728 by
Joseph Banks,Esq., MP for Revesby. The almshouses rebuilt by J.
Banks Stanhope.
