621-1/3/73 Statue of Diana the Huntress in car
park to south of Lytham Hall

GV II

Statue of Diana the Huntress. Probably later C18, but said to
have been brought from Greece by a member of the Clifton
family. White marble. Mounted on rectangular plinth enclosed
by C20 circular wall; slightly less than life-size figure of
Diana in mid stride, her left hand clutching a deer by the
horns and her right hand reaching over her shoulder to draw an
arrow from the quiver. (One of 2 garden statues, the other,
depicting Venus after the bath, now in the north entrance hall
of the house but formerly in a rose garden to the north.)
