Inn, now house. Late C18, with C19 and C20 alteration. Coursed
squared stone, with stone coped gables and moulded kneelers to
pantile roof; brick stacks at each end and right of centre. 2
storeys and attic; 4-window front. Margin-glazed front door
with overlight, flanked by narrow C20 lights; 3-light canted
bays with single-pane sash windows at each end of ground
floor. Similar window inserted over door; remaining first
floor windows are 12-pane sashes. 4 gabled dormers with
unequal 9-pane sashes to attic. House was known previously as
the Castle Hotel and the Commercial Hotel.
