ST 77 SW COLD ASHTON C.P. THE FOLLY

8/8 The White Hart

17.9.52 II

Inn. C17 with C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Rubble with stone
dressings, brick, Cotswold stone tiled roof, coated in bitumen to rear, raised
coped verges with finials and kneelers, gable stack to west and ridge stack.
2½ storeys, 3 windows, all 3-light casements with ovolo mullions and surround and
hood mould, mullions missing at first floor left, 2nd bay from left has 2-storey
gabled porch with moulded surround and hood mould to door and similar 2-light
casement above with leaded lights; 2 dormer gables, each with 2-light C19
casement, small gable to right has 2-light casement with moulded mullion and hood
mould. 1½ storey wing to left has C20 3-light casement with ovolo mullions and
hood mould, loading door under eaves; all ground and first floor windows have
external shutters. Right return has attic window of 2 panes with worn cornice,
rear has small gable as on front and brick external stack, extensive single storey
C20 extensions. Interior: ground floor completely remodelled C20 except for one
moulded beam and one chamfered beam with step and scroll stop. Winder stair at
each end of building to attic, rear wall at first floor has basket arched stone
fireplace; 5 bays of roof accessible, tie-beam under floor, principal rafters,
collar, 2 rows of purlins, ridge purlin with plated yoke.
