Two houses, now public house. C18 and early C19, with C19 and
C20 alteration. C18 part to left rendered, incised to resemble
ashlar, and painted; C19 part of painted brick in English
garden-wall bond, on painted plinth, part brick, part stone;
rear of pink and cream mottled brick in stretcher bond.
Pantile roof to C18 part, shallow pitched slate roof with
projecting eaves to C19 part; brick stacks to both. 2-storey
fronts to both, with 2 windows to left and 3 windows to right.
C18 part has door of 6 raised-and-fielded panels with
overlight, in plain pilaster and cornice doorcase, to left of
shallow square bay window with C20 glazing. Remaining windows
are 4-pane sashes with painted stone sills. C19 part has wide
central doorcase of sunk panelled pilasters and moulded
cornice, with radial fanlight over open doorway. Doorway leads
to small lobby with bar entrances to left and right; central
fixed light window over and between panels with attached
reeded mouldings and angle blocks. Ground floor windows are
sashes, with 6 panes to lower sash and 2 panes to upper.
Windows on first floor are 4-pane sashes, the centre one a
canted oriel. All windows have painted stone sills. In 1840s,
No.12 was the premises of William Wrangham, Winemerchant; by
1890s, it had become a public house known as The Board.
