Farmhouse, now house. C17 origins, extended c.1723 with later additions and
alterations. Roughly coursed slate-stone with granite quoins, rendered to front
of C17 part; C18 part slate hung (painted) to front and rendered to right; slate
roofs, hipped to front of C18 part. Basic L-plan comprising C17 range with C18
addition to right projecting at right-angles to rear. 2 storeys. C17 part has
C18 three-light casement with crown glass and L-hinges directly below eaves and
partly infilled doorway with cambered head, recessed C20 half-glazed door and
C20 metal casement directly beneath. C18 part has 16-paned horned glazing bar
sash on each floor to front. Two C20 casements on first floor to right side
with large C19 casement to right of lean-to porch over 6-panel door (top panels
glazed) on ground floor. Integral rendered end stack to rear of C18 range and
similar stack to far right of 017 part, both with red brick shafts. Truncated
corbelled stack at first-floor level to left gable end of cl7 range. 2-storey
catslide outshut to C18 range occupies angle with C17 part.
Interior: Ground floor C17 part has roughly carved cross beams and may originally
have been agricultural. First floor (probably originally open to roof) has bottom
of collar truss roof in 5 bays visible. part has infilled inglenook fireplace
to rear stack and crude round-headed arch heads to outshut. The date "1723"
was found on one of the panes of glass in one of the sash windows when these
were replaced in mid-C20.
