GV II* (star)

House. Possibly C14 aisled house converted into a lobby entrance house in the early C17.
Refenestrated in the C19. Timberframed, with frame including midrail and curved braces
visible on the outside, on painted stone plinth. Painted brick infill. Steeply pitched hipped
thatched roof with off central and end brick stacks. One storey and attics; 3 windows. Gabled
dormers. C19 casements, except for early C17 mullion to north, and C20 doorcase. North bay
has joists of square section on the ground floor. Central bay (formerly open hall) has open
fireplace with bressumer, salt niche and spine beam with 2 inch chamfer with lambstongue
stop. C19 winder stair. First floor has chamfered crownpost with 2 headbraces, one missing,
and arched braced tie beam. Rafters are sans-purlin suggesting C14 date. Ground floor has
sawn off passing brace suggesting aisled hall. South bay partially restored following fire.
