Dovecote, mid C19, with earlier core. Circular plan. Red brick with gault
brick dressings; the first stage battered. Conical plaintiled roof with deep
rendered coved cornice. 5 blank rendered niches with gault brick surrounds; a
sixth is open, barred, for ventilation. A band of blank arcading in gault
brick below the eaves, intended to resemble machicolation; 3 of the arches are
left open as access holes for the doves. Arched entrance doorway deeply
recessed within a heavy red brick frame having gabled head; battened and
boarded door. The walls lined within by nesting boxes constructed with unfired
clay bats. Central potence; formerly supporting an access ladder which has
now gone.
