Possibly mid Cl9. 3 storey ashlar front with eccentric detail. Cornice with gadrooning,
blocking course. Pilasters with incised key motif, 3 windows with fluted dripmoulds
and rosettes over. Sashes with Gothic glazing bars. 'Old Council House' in low
relief lettering over lst floor windows. Modern shop front.

Nos 30, 40, 40A, 41 and 42 form a group with Nos 1 to 3 (consec) East Gate.
