grounds of The Chalet
GV II
Dog Kennels. Late C19, built for Alfred de Rothschild of Halton House. Cast iron frame having
columns with acanthus leaf capitals and open work scrolled ventilation frieze at eaves level.
Weatherboarded walls on a brick plinth with brick gable end walls; corrugated iron roof Single storey.
4 windows with glazing bars. 2 section stable type door. Guests were brought from Halton House (qv)
on a pony carriage to admire the wide view from The Chalet (qv) and be entertained; a skittle alley
(qv) is nearby.
