Description

NY 04 SE ALLONBY ALLONBY

6/9 Crookhurst Farmhouse
and Cottage

II

Farmhouse divided into 2 dwellings. Probably early C18 with alterations dated
and inscribed over doorway I.B. 1745 (John or Thomas Beeby). Painted roughcast
walls, with V-jointed quoins and eaves cornice, on chamfered plinth. Graduated
greenslate roof with coped gables; roughcast chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 8
bays. Left C20 door in painted stone architrave; C20 centre door in late C19
painted stone surround; former doorway to right has dated lintel. Sash windows
in painted stone surrounds. Early C19 rear extension. Detached outbuilding
which is not listed, has a reused lintel inscribed W & E.B. 1709, suggesting
that this came from the farmhouse. Adjoining barns are not of interest.
