Gate piers, wing walls and gates: c. 1820 for Sir J T Stanley. Piers
and walls in ashlar buff sandstone, gates wrought iron. Forward gate
piers have channelled rusticated bodies on simple moulded plinths and
projecting moulded capstones. These are at the ends of low curving
wing walls with cyma-moulded coping. Similar piers have side gates of
spears, lockrail and speared dog bars. Central main gates also have
similar piers but with carved Stanley crest to front and spread eagles
on capstones. These have a pair of similar gates to the side gates.
