House. C18 origins, but remodelled. Local stone foundation and plinth, red brick and ashlar East facade, rendered South side; hipped Welsh slate roof behind parapet on East elevation; central brick chimney stack with moulded stone cap. 2 storeys with attic, 5 bays. Plinth, cill course, cornice, parapet; 2-pane sash windows below and 6-pane above, in stone architraves with keystones; central doorway with eared and heeled architrave, with keystone, under pediement, fitted with French doors. On South East corner good pair cast iron gates with heavy spear finials to top and middle rails.
The C20 extension on North side not included in the listing.
Interior not seen, probably altered.
House rebuilt after 1730, probably for Simon Webb, a linen weaver, and probably by Nathaniel Ireson; house modified soon after 1839; in 1904 had been vacant for several years, and there was probably an early C20 restoration. (Sweetman G, History of Wincanton, c1904).
