Founded 1435. Rebuilt C17. Also altered by Sir William Kennedy, late C18. Restored
and again altered 1863. Entrance arch, east end of Chapel, and upper storeys of
houses of this last date. Twelve 2 storey almshouses round cobbled courtyard,
those on the west side being at a higher level with terraced pavement in front.
Interesting Chapel dating from 1436, considerably restored. Kennaway tablets.
Mace-holder. All the buildings are of Heavitree stone. Now restored as council
offices. (1973).
