Description

ST4717 STOKE SUB HAMDON CP NORTH STREET (East Side)
6/319 Road sign, about 45 metres north
of Castle Farmhouse
-
GV II
Road sign. 1907. Case iron plates on rolled steel T-post. The top triangle has SAC cast into bottom member: the
rectangular plate under reads 'STOKE UNDER HAM/SL0W", and on back the caster's name, W and F Wills, Bridgwater (who
closed down in 1983). This appears to be one of 36 signs donated by the Somerset Automobile Club and accepted by the
County Council in 1907, and erected at the Club's expense, (Bentley, J. B and Murless B. J, Somerset Roads, SIAS
1985).
