Grotto. Early C18. Brick core with Portland stone and rusticated quoins of flint work. Three bays, with large central opening containing seats and apsidal ceiling decorated with shell-work and copper slag decoration. Positioned on the south side of the formal canal. Part of the formal garden lay-out of the early C18. Valentines Park is included in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at grade II.
