Tombstone to Roberts in St Mary-at-Finchley Churchyard

Tombstone to Roberts, c.1730. Portland stone. Headstone with oval inscription panel surrounded by putti, drapery and auricular decoration. Relief at foot of stone of jumbled skulls and bones. One of the most elaborate Baroque tombstones, with unusual imagery of mortality. Group value with Gee tombstone.
