Range of threshing barns and carriage archway. 1718 and early
C18. Designed by and built for Sir Thomas Parkyns. Red brick,
some blue brick chequering. Plain tile roof. Brick coped left
gable with kneeler, further single similar gable now incorporated
in the ridge. Single right bay with carriage archway and 4 slit
ventilators over. The single barn to the left is set on a plinth
and is built upon segmental arches. Large doorway with concrete
surround. Either side are single C20 fixed lights, further left
and right are single glazing bar fixed lights, original openings
being under segmental arches with segmental arched brick hood
moulds over. Remains of single similar hood mould over the
doorway, also inscription in blue brick "1718". Blocked slit
ventilators. The single barn to the left has a large doorway
with plank double door flanked by single pilaster buttresses. To
the left is a smaller doorway and plank door, the lintel being
flanked by single small openings. To the right, on the top floor
are 2 openings with plank shutters and further right a single
glazing bar casement. Extending across the whole of this front
are 3 rows of slit ventilators placed close together, some now
blocked. Interior of the barn to the right has posts mounted upon
corbels set into the wall, these with single curved braces
support the tie beam and wall plate. Sir Thomas Parkyns Bart.
(c.1662-1741) carried out improvements to and rebuilt almost all
of Bunny to his own designs.
