Farmhouse, now dwelling. Probably C16, ceiled to 4-cell and cross passage late C16-early C17, possibly late C19 parallel range added on west front, south-western part of which was demolished cl984. Render over rubble exposed right
gable end, thatched roof hipped to left, half-hipped to right, tall brick stack added left gable end, brick stack to left of entrance. Plan: thought to be originally a single storey building, roof raised with through passage stack
inserted forming 4-cell and cross passage, parallel range it rear, subsequently partly demolished, modern stair inserted in enlarged through passage, partition between hall and adjoining rood removed. One and a half storeys, long irregular 4-window facade, all late C20 casements, four 3-light first floor,ground floor three 3-light and one 4- light to left of inglenook beside entrance, two 3-light windows to right. Left return gable end unlit, remains of parallel range set back with brick stack gable end and inserted C20 casement. Interior partially seen. To left of enlarged through passage timber-framed fireplace with brick infill, chamfered lintel, chamfered bears with step and runout stops, timber- framed partition with peaked doorframe and renewed held opening into end rood which has inserted C20 grate. Upper storey said to contain timber- framed partitions and smoke-blackened rafters indicating that the building was at one time open to the roof. It is an unusual plan, probably with a dairy originally opening out of the inner room at the south end. The building was at one time two cottages, and in the early C20 was inhabited by the dairymen from Manor Farm (qv), about 100m to the east. (VAG Report, unpublished SRO, Jan l984).
