the porch to the Church
of St Andrew

Chest tomb. Early C18. Sandstone. Flat top to moulded edge, gadrooned quarter
balusters, cartouches east, west and south with very fine inscriptions, simpler
panel to north. Base not visible, the monument falling and overgrown with ivy at
time of survey, September 1983. Earliest inscription legible is to William Rogers,
1761, but this is a design from an earlier part of the C18. One of a group of 6
monuments south of the porch, and c 2.50 metres south of the John Barrow monument
(qv).
