Description

POTTER HEIGHAM CHURCH ROAD
TG 41 PUNS
(south side)
9/10002 Clay Barn at No 4

- II

Barn. Early C19. Shuttered clay with reed thatch roof and weatherboarded east gable. Tall flint
plinth with brick dressings. 3-bay plan with opposing cart doors in central bay. Circle segment in
brick to north east corner. Fallen clay render has exposed lift lines and timber corner ties.
INTERIOR. Rounded internal corners and simple roof structure of 2 queen-strut trusses and
intermediate compression collars. The shuttered clay construction is a rare technique in this part
of Norfolk and this small barn is a good and little unaltered example.
