2/80 Lodge, piers and railings to
Rumsey House

Lodge to Rumsey House (q.v), early C19, ashlar with low hipped
slate roof, tall rear ashlar stack. Single storey, two 12-pane
sashes, raised piers to centre and ends, moulded cornice, broken
forward over piers, parapet with dividing piers and ball finials.
Screen wall each side, door to left, blank opening to right, walls
returned south to connect with ashlar piers. Three similar piers
opposite on north side, 2 half-height, one full height to light,
connected by iron spearhead rails. Pier to right and pier to left
of lodge were gate-piers with similar pier between, dividing
carriage entry from pedestrian entry. All piers are square plan
with convex faces, reeded bands and rounded square caps.
