GV II

House. C17 and C18 with early C19 alterations. Timber-frame
and red brick (part rendered and colourwashed) with plain tile
roof and end stacks. Lobby entry plan much extended.
2 storeys and single storey and attic. 4-window main range of
mainly 8/8 sashes. C20 casements and bull's-eye windows below.
6-panel door and overlight within C20 gabled porch. To right a
long lower timber-framed range, partly outbuildings, has
various doors and windows and 2 dormers. Series of ventilation
loops on right coped gabled end. Square panel framing to left
on front of the lower range and mostly to rear. Heavy
scantling on stone plinth. Main range has mainly 8/8 sashes to
rear.
INTERIOR: lower range has chamfered spine beams and roof with
queen post and queen strut trusses. Small late C17 winder
stair to right of the lobby entry. This lower range appears to
have been the original lobby entry-plan farmhouse and the room
to the left, now in the main range, part of it. This has spine
beams and an open fireplace behind the entry. The other
fireplace to its back was altered C19 but the whole hood
remains. The rest of the main range is C18 and extended early
C19. It has spine beams to part, altered early C19 staircase
and 2- and 6-panel doors.
