Gate piers and screen walls at
entrance to Waterloo Promenade (NE)

GV II

Gate piers and screen wall. Mid to late C19. Ashlar with
cast-iron railing. 2 square piers with chamfered corners and
moulded plinths. massive square caps with enriched segmental
pediments, topped with the remains of cast-iron lamps. Between
the piers, a low ashlar screen wall topped with a cut down
railing, approx 6m long.
This is one of several gateways and screens of similar design
erected by Nottingham Corporation at entrances to the Forest
and Waterloo Promenade.
