SX 79 NE CREDITON HAMLETS WOODLAND HEAD

6/146 The Cottage

GV II


2 cottages with adjoining byre and hay loft, now small house. Probably late C18-
early C19, extended circa 1970. Plastered cob on rubble footings; rubble stack
with brick top; thatched roof: C20 blockwork extension. Originally pair of 1-
room cottages with mirror plans either side of axial stack and at west end (right
of front) contemporary byre with hayloft over. Extended 1 bay to left circa 1970.
2 storeys. Irregular 4-window front of C19 and C20 casements with glazing bars.
Central ground floor windows in original positions but original doorways blocked on
either side. Left of 2 first floor windows survives. Roof half-hipped each end.
Entry now in left end to C20 block. Plain carpentry inside.
