Cottage. C15/C16 with later alterations and additions. Timber framed and
weatherboarded. Thatched roof. Left red brick chimney stack. Single storey
lean-to extensions to left, right and rear. One storey and attics. One gabled
dormer. 2 C20 small paned casements to right of C20 gabled porch. Similar
window to left lean-to, stable door to right lean-to. Internally part of the
frame is visible with closely set studs, side girts and top plates. The
ceilings are inserted and have stop chamfered bridging joists. Inserted
repaired inglenook fireplace. The inner tie beams have been cut away and the
upper part of the roof structure is now boarded thus it is not possible to
assess if it is of side purlin or crown post construction. The present owners
removed "black rough material" possibly sooting, by sand blasting the rafters.
