The Priory
- II
House. Early and late C18, with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed limestone
rubble and brick, mostly rendered with ashlar dressings. Slate roofs.
2 rendered gable stacks. 3 bay, 2½ storey. Central projecting C19 porch with
chamfered plinth and ashlar coped parapet with 2 corner piers with ashlar caps.
8 fielded panel door. Either side are single canted bay windows with full height
glazing bar sashes. Above 3 glazing bar sashes in moulded ashlar surrounds,
and above again 3 smaller glazing bar sashes also in moulded ashlar surrounds.
The 2 upper floors are articulated with 4 Tuscan Doric pilasters, with moulded
ashlar bases and capitals, topped with an entablature which forms a deep parapet
with moulded ashlar coping. To the rear a lower wing, much altered. Interior
has a plain late C18 staircase.
