House. C18, with late C19 forge to rear. Painted and rendered cob to house and
stone timber laced rubble walls to forge. Asbestos slate hipped roof, formerly
thatched with slightly projecting eaves and continuous rear outshut and lean-to at
north-north-east end. Inserted lateral stack, rear left, and original external
stack to rear right, with forge flue inserted late C19. 2 room central stair plan
plus 1-room forge to full length of rear and 1-room addition to north-north-east. 2
storeys to original part. Nearly symmetrical, 2-window east-south-east front.
Doorway with top-glazed C20 door and C20 gable hood off-centre to right. Wide C19,
3-light casements except narrower 2-light casement to ground floor, left. Small
shuttered opening possibly food hutch to ground floor, right. Forge has sashes with
random panes of overlapping glass.
Interior of house has roughly chamfered cross beam in each room. Curious rounded
niche in left room possibly where machinery was fitted and further niche between
window and door.
