Cottage. Circa C18. Red brick with some blue brick headers. Thatched roof with gabled
and half-hipped ends. Brick gable-end stack. PLAN: 2-room plan with living room/kitchen
on left heated from a gable-end stack and a smaller unheated service room on right.
Single-storey outbuilding attached at an obtuse angle on right end. EXTERIOR: 1-storey
and attic. Almost symmetrical 2-window south east front. 2-light casements with glazing bars;
ground floor right window has leaded panes and to its right a very small casement; central
doorway with plank door and later gabled brick porch. Attached at obtuse angle on right end
is single-storey thatched roof outbuilding with later brick walls. Rear wall blind except for
doorway on left. INTERIOR: Both ground floor rooms have unchamfered joists and
chamfered axial beams, the left with runout stops and large brick fireplace with an
unchamfered timber lintel and a blocked oven. Heavy timber-flamed central partition. Attic
chambers ceiled.
