TM 00 SW TILLINGHAM GRANGE ROAD

6/202 Midlands Farmhouse

GV II

House. C15 or earlier origin with C16/C17 and later additions and alterations.
Timber framed and plastered. Red plain tiled roof hipped to right. 4 red brick
chimney stacks that to front range with 3 attached diagonal shafts, 2 to rear
right range with 2 attached diagonal shafts and a C19 diagonal shaft to single
storey left brewhouse/outhouse range, restorations to the 2 C16/C17 stacks. L-
plan with C19 range to rear left. One storey and attics, 3 gabled dormers,
timber pediment over left dormer. 3 small paned 2 light casements to ground
floor with pentice boards over. C20 door off centre left. To rear left of this
range is a blocked C15 timber doorway with ogee head. No internal inspection of
original ranges allowed at time of re-survey. Stated to be of 2 armed crown
post roof construction. C19 brewhouse retains its original copper, fireplace
and chimney stack, part of this range in red brick rat trap bond. Attached
looped iron railings enclose the front garden. Possibly a moated site. RCHM 7.
