A C17, or earlier timber-framed and plastered house with a brick gable wall at
the west end with an external chimney stack. Considerably altered. Renovated
in the C20. 2 storeys and attics. The attics are lit by windows in the gables.
3 window range on the north front, double-hung sashes with glazing bars. There
is a C20 gabled entrance porch. Roof tiled, with a central original chimney stack
with 6 grouped octagonal shafts on a rectangular base with a sunk panel inscribed
with the date 1644 above the initials JCSC. The west end has a stack with 2 shafts.
The south side has 1 gabled dormer. There is the remains of a moat. (RCHM 9).
