Description

SHIPTON MOYNE ESTCOURT PARK
ST 89 SE
7/160 Former animal shelters
immediately west of main
stable block
GV II

Former animal shelters, only partly in use. Probably early C19.
Rubble stone, pantile roof to north, corrugated asbestos to west,
both hipped. L-shape range around 2 sides of courtyard, single
storey to north, and with loft to west. Wing to north has 12
segmental arches, only 2 completely open and rest infilled with
recessed stonework with door or 2-light opening. Piers dividing
bays in dressed stone, some original feeding equipment remains.
Wing to west has 8 similar arches to left, open only to far left,
with 5 different loft openings over, larger similar arch to right
and single door with square opening above in corner to far right.
Although a modest building, it forms an important feature in the
surviving stable group of Estcourt Park, with the small barn (q.v.)
opposite, and main stable block (q.v.) and former coach house
(q.v.) to the east.
