4/216 Caervallack Farmhouse and adjoining
- outbuildings at the south-east

GV II

Farmhouse. C18, slightly remodelled circa early C19. Painted rubble and cob with
slate sills and wooden lintels. Scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over gable
ends and hip at rear of service wing.
T-shaped plan: 2 rooms with cross passage between at front and one-room service wing
at right angles to middle of rear; later extended at the left hand end with single
storey outbuildings and former probably C19 lean-to in rear right hand angle
heightened in the C20.
2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3-window east front with central doorway, open C20
porch and old ledged door. Circa early C19 horizontal sliding sashes with small panes
to 1st floor openings under heightened eaves. Horned sashes to ground floor openings.
Some old windows to left-hand (south) wall of rear wing and a blocked window to 1st
floor of right hand (north) gable end.
An outbuilding adjoins at left with wide doorway right with ledged door and narrow
fixed 6-light casement left. This building is linked by garden wall doorway to single
storey wash house with brick chimney over east gable end. The front faces north and
has 9-pane fixed light and ledged door towards right.
Interiors not inspected. The 3-room T-shaped plan is not uncommon for C17 and C18
houses in Cornwall and this is a fairly unaltered example.
