Pair of houses. Mid C19,altered. Stucco, unpainted. Roof not visible. 3
storeys and basement. Whole composition of 10 windows wide, centre 4 set forward
with rusticated quoins. Outer bays with projecting ground floor with pilastered
entrances to inner bays. Panelled doors; balustrade above. Ground floor
rusticated. Square headed windows, architraved to first and second floors;
sashes; plate glass. Window openings altered to first floor right. Decorative
band above first floor. Decorative frieze and console cornice above second
floor. Balustraded parapet to projecting bays. Cast iron area railings. LCC
plaque on 1 to Sir Rowland Hill, 1795 to 1879, postal reformer, who lived here.
