(Formerly Listed as:

No.23)

GV II

Pair of houses. Mid C19. Limestone ashlar with coped slate
roof and ashlar ridge stack with brick shaft to the party
wall. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; each house is one-window range. Platbands
between floors.
No.23 to the right has 8/8-pane sashes. A projecting bay
window on brackets to the ground-floor right has late C19
paired 4/4 pane sash windows; C20 glazing fills a former
doorway with edge-roll moulding to the right. The C20 entrance
is now in the right return with small windows above.
A set-back thickened wall to the right return which does not
reach the gable implies that part of this house was
demolished, probably in connection with the building of the
chapel to the rear right, No.22, later the Spinkes Printing
Works (qv)
No.24 to the left has roll-moulding to a C20 door to the left
and C20 aluminium windows
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A relatively late but significant part of the group of listed
buildings on The Causeway.
No.23 was listed on the 19/10/79.
