House on corner site of the Market Place. Early C18. Painted
brick, painted freestone eaves cornice and dressings, hipped
slate roof with brick stack to rear of main block and a square
brick stack to rear of rear right wing. L-shaped plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 3-window range to both facades. Moulded
eaves cornice; raised surrounds to upper floor windows and
thick sill band to the 2nd floor; 3/3-pane sash windows to the
2nd floor, C20 cross-windows to the 1st floor, those to the
left of the west facade are blocked, C20 shop windows and door
to the ground floor.
INTERIOR: steps down to a former road level. To the rear right
of the main block is an early C18 open-well open string
staircase with fretted ends and closely-spaced turned
balusters, moulded swept handrail and dado rail to the wall.
A small room to the 1st floor of the rear wing has early C18
full-height raised and fielded panelling, box cornice and a
cyma-moulded surround to a blocked fireplace to the rear wall.
