Oxford Hotel

GV II

House, now a hotel. Early C19. Painted squared limestone
rubble, hipped slate roof with a large rendered ridge stack to
the centre. Double-depth rhomboid plan with rear additions.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; virtually 3-window range. Pilasters;
eaves band, platbands between floors; no windows to the
2nd-floor front, (2 windows to the returns); 6/6-pane sash
windows to the 1st floor flanking a similar
semicircular-arched window to right-of-centre. Steps up to a
late C19 semicircular-arched door with C20 glazing to the top,
semicircular-arched hood on brackets flanked by C20 horned
8/8-pane sash windows with lintel projections and corbelled
projecting sills.
A late C19 lean-to conservatory of 6 lights to the left return
has small panes to the top and 3 narrow vertical panes to each
light below and radial glazing to a central gable.
