Ha-ha. Mid C18. Brick laid in Flemish bond, with brick-on-edge coping.
The retaining wall, somewhat obscured by undergrowth, runs north-south between existing brick piers of garden walls (qv), connecting at both ends with butt joins. North and south ends begin with swept walls dropping to straight sections. Centre of wall bows out to the west with remains of steps at the centre. At intervals are raking buttresses on exterior (west) face of bowed section.
