St Scholastica's Abbey, cemetery

GV II

Cemetery building. c1862. Probably by George Goldie. Squared
limestone rubble with freestone quoins, plinth, dressings and
lead roof. Square plan with semi-octagonal roof. Gothic
Revival style.
EXTERIOR: a moulded architrave to a pointed arch over double
planked doors with strap hinges is under a trefoil set in a
small gable with a pinnacle cross. The front quoins are
weathered back approx 1m above the plinth to form the
semi-octagon of the roof which has roll joints to the angles,
small gablets over pierced trefoils to front and sides, and an
ornamental finial to the apex.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
