The Hermitage

GV II

House. Late C17/early C18. Painted render over cob, hipped
thatched roof with ridge stack to right-of-centre and end
walls. 4-room through-passage plan with a stack to the left of
the passage and a later 2-storey slate-roofed left wing.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 4-window range. 6/6-pane sash windows,
those to the 1st floor have C18 pointed arches breaking
through the eaves almost forming eyebrow dormers; those to the
ground floor right are in C19 canted bays flanking a C19
half-glazed 4-panel door under a flat-roofed trellised porch.
To the inside left is a pointed-arched C20 window. The left
wing has a leaded circular window to the 1st-floor left and a
6/6-pane sash to the ground floor.
