House. 1764 (deeds) with early C19 alterations. Painted stucco
over cob and rubblestone, slate roof with a brick stack to the
left gable end. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. 6/6-pane sash
windows at eaves level below a modillion cornice. A C20
reconstructed Tuscan doorcase over a semi-elliptical fanlight
and a C19 half-glazed 4-panel door is flanked by early C19
curved segmental tripartite windows with 8/8-pane sashes to
the centres.
INTERIOR: six C18 2-panel doors to the 1st floor, 6-panel
doors and moulded cornice to the ground-floor front. C19
closed string dogleg staircase with a pine swan's neck
handrail, stick balusters and turned newels, and
semi-elliptical recesses flank the fireplace to the right-hand
ground-floor front room. Other joinery including architraves
and skirting boards is C20.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: forecourt wall and plinth with late C19
railings and cast-iron gate.
