Town house, now offices, and area wall. Mid C18, with late C18
rear wing, converted late C20. Red brick with painted ashlar
dressings and slate roof with coped gables and 2 gable stacks.
Elaborate modillion eaves cornice.
3 storeys; 2 window range. On each floor, 2 Venetian windows,
those to the ground floor with the central light breaking
through a pediment. All have a central round-arched 12-pane
sash and glazing bar sidelights. To right, steps up to a
doorcase with dentillated pediment on Ionic columns.
Round-arched opening with double keystone, fanlight, and
renewed 6-panel door.
Outside, a coped area wall with channelled rustication.
INTERIOR: largely original, has a wooden dogleg stair with
triple turned and twist balusters, ramped and scrolled
handrail, and fielded panelled wainscot. Ground floor front
rooms, linked by elliptical arch, have modillion cornice. Rear
room has a moulded elliptical arched fireplace. Other rooms
have cornices and blind arches. Several fielded 6-panel doors
with various architraves. Roof structure largely renewed, with
a pair of cruck trusses.
Rock cut cellars, on 2 levels linked by a stone winder stair,
have elliptical brick vaults, wine bins and thrawls.
