1-8 Claremont Bank and attached railings (Consecutive)

Terrace of eight houses, now offices. c 1830. Stucco over brick with Welsh slate roof. Three-storeyed with full basements. Grouped in pairs which are stepped down the slope, each pair a six-window range. Ground-floor windows and doors recessed in shallow arches: recessed Doric fluted shafts to paired doorcases and six-panelled doors with overlights. Tripartite sash windows with incised key decoration on mullions. First-floor windows are twelve-pane sashes in segmentally-arched recesses. Moulded cornice to eaves parapet. Side wall stacks.

SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: cast-iron area railings throughout.
